In reply to Mark. If they're added too early, the ice cream will not churn smoothly. Some machines will not handle that at all. You want the mixture to be soft serve consistency before they are added, Mark.

Can I churn the ice cream WITH the marshmallows and almonds added?

Or is there a specific reason to stir them in AFTER churning?

This recipe is straightforward and very easy to make, but I felt like the almond flavor was overwhelming. It was hard to taste anything else with such strong almond flavoring. If I make it again, I’ll omit the almond extract and use chopped almonds instead of sliced. Even though it wasn’t our favorite, it was still good enough that we didn’t let any go to waste!

In reply to Holly. Hi, Holly! I'm not sure how you found the directions but not the instructions; milk is listed in the ingredients in both the overview of the recipe and the recipe card. You'll need 1 cup of milk for a standard batch.

In the directions, it says to add milk, but milk is not listed in the ingredients list. So I’m confused.

In reply to Christine Shipley. Note: I would reduce the almond extract to 1/4 or 1/2 teaspoon next time (or none at all if you prefer no almond flavor) as it doesn't need a whole teaspoon w/the chopped almonds

This was absolutely fabulous! I used Wilbur cocoa powder, dark & dutch cocoas and it made the Rocky Road so rich & creamy. Easy to make and I could easily use the base recipe and add other extracts for different flavors, this is a keep for sure! Thanks for posting it.
